History of ramNavmi
Ram Navami is considered one of the oldest festivals celebrated worldwide, dating back to the beginning of time. It is also mentioned in the Kalika Purana. According to Indian beliefs, if this festival is celebrated by fasting with full devotion and according to the complete rules, then it helps in attaining salvation.
Every year during the months of March and April, crowds of devotees gather at places of worship across India. Ram Navami falls on the 9th day of the month of Chaitra.
According to Hindi devotees, it was on this day that King Dasharath received the answer to his question. He had three wives, but none of them had a son capable of managing such a vast empire and ascending the throne.
Then Rishi Vashishtha asked the king to perform a yajna to beget a son. King Dasharatha did so. After the yajna was completed with all the rituals, Rishi Vashishtha offered the king a bowl of payasam as prasad. The king asked to divide the prasad among his three wives. The king gave half to his eldest wife, Kaushalya, and the other half to his youngest wife, Kaikey. Kaushalya and Kaikai each gave half of their share to their third wife, Sumitra. Thus, Kaushalya and Kaikeyi gave birth to a son each, and Sumitra gave birth to twins.
That day, King Dasharatha’s entire family and every resident of Ayodhya were overjoyed to see this miracle: Lord Rama himself had taken birth in his form. His brothers Bharata, Lakshmana, and Strughna also arrived.

Similarly, the ancient sage and poet Valmiki composed the Ramayana, which mentions Purushottama Rama, the seventh incarnation of Vishnu, who was born on earth to destroy evil and sin and to protect the innocent.
Later, Ram destroyed Ravana, a sinful man, along with his army. He also killed the evil demons and protected the people. Therefore, the people of Ayodhya are very enthusiastic about celebrating Ram’s birth anniversary, and Ram Navami is celebrated with this enthusiasm.
